Welcome aboard

The great success that Fokker achieved with its F27 model encouraged the Dutch manufacturer to go one step further. In this way, in Apr1962 the new project was announced: The F28 Fellowship.
On the occasion of the 57th anniversary of the prototype´s first flight, -May 9, 1967-, we glad to invite you to the launch of this new Blog fokkerfellowship28.blogspot.com, dedicated absolutely to the Fellowship.
We invite all those who are passionate about this small Dutch colossus to share their experiences, photographs, or information in this space. The site is under development, and we hope all readers will like it.
Welcome aboard

A Fellowship tour

On Tuesday, March 7, 1978, a Fokker F-28 Mk. 4000 visited the Jorge Newbery Aeroparque in Buenos Aires, completing a demonstration tour. The aircraft bore Dutch identification and Linjeflyg colorscheme. Previously, the aircraft had visited Rio de Janeiro, conducting various tests on the famous "Ponta Aérea" route from Rio's Santos Dumont airport to São Paulo. The Fellowship was one of the many aircraft evaluated to replace VARIG's venerable Electras, which, incidentally, continued flying until 1992.
The Dutch factory, to fulfill this tour, leased an F-28 Mk.4000 from the Swedish company Linjeflyg, (PH-JPV - cn. 11130) before the aircraft was delivered to them. The European manufacturer had carried out a promotional tour in the region in the late 60s, when it began marketing the model with the PH-MOL F-28 Mk.1000 (cn.11003) aircraft. Of the versions derived from the original Fellowship, the F-28 Mk.4000 was the most successful series. This version entered service with the Swedish company Linjeflyg on October 20, 1976, powered by Spey 555-15H engines. Furthermore, compared to the original model, it offered greater seating capacity (85 passengers versus 65), a larger wingspan, and reinforced wings.
The tour garnered modest interest from the Argentine state-owned company, which had been operating the model since 1975 with the Mk.1000 series. In 1979, the national carrier leased an Mk.4000 series aircraft from NLM City Hopper. This aircraft was later acquired - PH-BBV/LV-MZD cn.11127.
The aircraft subsequently continued its tour, performing various demonstrations in Bolivia for Lloyd Aéreo Boliviano, which received coverage in the local press.

Last passenger service of a Fokker F-28

Unfortunately, yesterday, March 5, 2025, the last worldwide passenger service on a Fokker F-28 was carried out. LADE flight 5U702 was operated by the Fokker F-28 Mk.1000C TC-53 that made the route Aeroparque – Mar del Plata – Bahía Blanca – San Carlos de Bariloche and back.

That was the last flight of an F-28 for LADE (Líneas Aéreas del Estado), it is speculated that the F-28 will continue in service with the Argentine Air Force for some time to come.

The Fokker F-28 has been replaced by the Embraer 145 on flights for LADE.

On January 5, 1977, the Business Times newspaper announced that a delegation from Fokker would visit Japan at the end of January or beginning of February of that year to negotiate the sale of the Fokker F-28 to the company TDA (Toa Domestic Airlines). Fokker hoped to secure a TDA order for the F-28 Mk.4000 in competition with the British Aircraft Corporation (BAC). The F-28 had a chance because of its fuel economy and low sound levels.

Fokker also offered TDA a version called “Super Fellowship”, slightly larger than the Mk.4000 and with the possibility of installing engines made in Japan.

Fokker spokesmen also stated that All Nippon Airways also represented a potential customer for the F-28.
