Welcome aboard

The great success that Fokker achieved with its F27 model encouraged the Dutch manufacturer to go one step further. In this way, in Apr1962 the new project was announced: The F28 Fellowship.
On the occasion of the 57th anniversary of the prototype´s first flight, -May 9, 1967-, we glad to invite you to the launch of this new Blog fokkerfellowship28.blogspot.com, dedicated absolutely to the Fellowship.
We invite all those who are passionate about this small Dutch colossus to share their experiences, photographs, or information in this space. The site is under development, and we hope all readers will like it.
Welcome aboard

Never delivered #40

The final stop of the Fokker F-28 Americas promotional sales tour, carried out in February/March 1978, was Canada. There, Fokker took the opportunity to showcase its Mk.4000 to several airlines.

In Winnipeg —Transair's base—, the PH-JPV (c/n 11130) performed flight demonstrations. Transair, which was in the process of merging with Pacific Western, was interested in a passenger/cargo combi version. Our friend Arnold Bejeman dreamed of a Fokker F-28 Mk.4000C for that airline; how lovely that would have been!.

Around that time, Great Lakes Airlines ordered two F-28 Mk.4000s with an option for a third aircraft. Once again, the Fellowship demonstrated its capability to serve the stops operated by that company.

The final stop of the promotional tour was Montreal, where the F-28 Mk.4000 was inspected by representatives from Air Canada, Nordair, Quebecair, and Execaire.

Let's imagine a Fokker F-28 Mk.3000C ordered by Nordair.

How great it would have been if all these airlines had bought the Fokker F-28!

Once the tour concluded, the PH-JPV (c/n 11130) flew to Amsterdam with stops in Goose Bay, Sondre Stromfjord / Kangerlussuaq (Greenland), and Keflavik (Iceland).

In March 1978, on the return trip from what was the final American continent tour of a Fokker F-28 Fellowship, and prior to its last stop, the F-28 Mk.4000 PH-JPV (cn.11130) performed a demonstration on the island of Guadeloupe in the Lesser Antilles, Caribbean Sea.

What would have happened if Air Guadeloupe had purchased the Fokker F-28 Mk.4000?

Let's keep in mind that the airline was operating Fokker F-27 aircraft back in 1978.

On April 26, 1974, Argentine media outlets reported that the airline Aerochaco was interested in acquiring jets to modernize its fleet. The company was eyeing the Soviet Yakovlev Yak-40 aircraft and initiated negotiations with Soviet embassy officials.

Aerochaco was a small regional airline based in Resistencia, the capital of the Chaco province, and was state-owned by the provincial government.

At the same time, it also received an offer from Fokker for its F-28 Fellowship Mk.1000 model.

The article further noted that the Fellowships could be adapted for cargo transport. Around that time, Fokker was likely also negotiating with the national government for the acquisition of F-28s for Aerolíneas Argentinas (Mk.1000) and the Argentine Air Force (Mk.1000C). Had Aerochaco decided to purchase the Fellowship, they could have arrived alongside the aircraft delivered in January 1975.

What would have happened if Aerochaco had purchased the Fokker F-28 Mk.1000 Fellowship?

In 1979, Fokker representatives met with Chang Jui-ai, First Deputy Director of the General Administration of Civil Aviation of the People's Republic of China. The Dutch manufacturer offered the license-building of the Fokker F-28.

And if the Fokker F-28 Mk.4000 had been built under license in China, what would have happened?

What would it have looked like if CAAC had purchased it?

Upon returning from its promotional tour of the Americas in February and March 1978, the Fokker F-28 Mk.4000 landed in Caracas, Venezuela, one of the final stops for registration PH-JPV (c/n 11130). There, it was showcased to Línea Aeropostal Venezolana (LAV)—which had previously shown interest in the F-28—and to AVENSA.

And if LAV and AVENSA had acquired the Fokker F-28 Mk.4000, would they have looked like this?.
