At least a piece

   During the second part of the 90s, Argentina was trying to modernize the functioning of the different areas of the state. Among them are state-owned companies. Aerolíneas Argentinas was privatized, and shortly, this affected the Fokker F-28 fleet, that operated with the company since 1975.

    At that time, there were on service three Mk.1000 version aircraft, which after a period of storage at the Jorge Newbery Airport, were stored in the Chivatos de Ezeiza platform. There, after being decimated of all useful elements to serve as a spares, were completely scrapped.

    In those days, security at the airport was not so rigid. So on various rides, I could get close to the platform. It wasn't always accessible, but it was a classic routine ride. 

    Witnessing the scrapping of the LV-LOC plane -msn. 11083-, the people that were working on the fuselaje, were deposit the metal squares on the grass. At that moment I thought: "If I ask for one, will they give it to me?" I already had the negative answer. So I took a risk. To my surprise, not only did they say yes. Also, they made me go through with my car to load it. 

 In those days I had a Volkswagen GOL, very small, and the piece of metal did not fit completely into the trunk. The people who were dismantling the plane help me to positioned it so , I could take it home. Although, I really sensed that they didn't understand what interested me about a piece of metal. So since tahat day, I keep a part of the LV-LOC with me. 

    It's not much, but at least it's a piece...
